Full Description
Possible Mesolithic, Neolithic and Bronze Age flint implements including leaf arrowheads and Late bronze age pottery. (1) At Grove Farm flint implements and flakes were found by P R Hough-Love from 1913 to 1915. H Druitt bought some of these and they are now in the Red House Museum. These include six leaf arrowheads, six flint axes, three flint picks, two transverse arrowheads, twelve barbed and tanged arrowheads, two triangular arrowheads, a plano-convex knife and many fabricators, cores and flakes. In 1914 Hough-Love told Druitt he had 12,000 flints from Grove farm. Also listed from Grove farm are a Late Bronze Age plain food vessel and the base and sides of a Late Bronze Age urn. The urn was found on Hurn Way about halfway between Jumpers house and Grove Farm House. The farm is now entirely built over. (2) No further information. The 'new road' referred to is Hurn Way. (2)
(Area centred SZ 18304995) Grove Farm (Area shown is that mapped in the Calkin Catalogue). Flint implement and flakes were found in this area by P R Hugh-Love from 1913-15 and those now in Red House Museum were bought from him by H Druitt. These include six leaf arrowheads, six flint axes, three flint picks, two transverse arrowheads, twelve barbed and tanged arrow-heads, two triangular arrowheads, a plano-convex knife and many fabricators, cores and flakes. In 1914 P R Hough-Love told Druitt that he had 12,000 flints from Grove Farm.
Also listed under Grove Farm is the following LBA pottery: LBA plain food vessel, 2'6" high.
LBA urn, base & sides, found on new road about halfway between Jumpers House and Grove Farm House. LBA POTTERY - Hurnway. (1)
The Grove Farm area is now entirely built over. No further information. The 'new road' referred to is Hurn Way. (2)
