Monument record MDO827 - Shrunken village, West Farm,Cheselbourne

Settlement remains, formerly part of Cheselbourne village, lie around the church and also to the east of West Farm and to the west and south of Waterside Farm. They consist of rectangular closes up to 80 yards long and 30 yards wide, bounded by low banks. Earthworks associated with the shrunken village are visible on aerial photographs and lidar imagery and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cern and Piddle AIM Project. The features cover an area of over 12 hectares in the vicinity of West Farm, some have since been levelled.

They consist of rectangular closes up to 80 yds. Long and 30 yds. Wide, bounded by low banks; there are no well-defined house sites'.
