Monument record MDO8044 - Bowl barrow, one of the Black Hill Group, Turners Puddle

a, b, & c; classified as bowl barrows, but no details given. <2>

'a' has a diameter of 14.0m and a height of 1.7m and has no surrounding ditch. It has been mutilated in the Northern quadrant by a military slit trench. A heather cover bowl barrow. <3>

'A' - (20) - SY 83649401 Bowl barrow, 43ft diameter and 4 1/2 ft high, hollowed in centre. <5>

"SY 837942. Group of six round barrows on Black Hill. Scheduled". <6>

Four bowl barrows on heathland generally as described by authority 5. 'A' SY 83639400. Re-surveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <7>

A Bronze Age bowl barrow, one of the Black Hill Group, is visible as an earthwork on lidar imagery. The barrow is formed of a sub-oval mound measuring 15 m by 13 m. <8> It is scheduled together with five other barrows on Black Hill (see linked records) of which five could be seen on lidar imagery. This feature was digitally plotted as part of the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
