Summary

A Bronze Age bowl barrow. In 1970 the monument was recorded as being some 25 feet in diameter and one and a half feet high before ploughing. The barrow is visible as a sub-circular 25m in diameter, slightly flattened on the east side, earthwork on current Environment Agency lidar imagery and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

A. Cairn on arable land 1953. 16 paces in diameter, 2ft high. (Listed as a bowl barrow) <2>

'A' - A flinty mound 15.0m in diameter and 0.5m high. The field within which these bowl barrows and the cairns are situated is now grass covered. 'A' is probably better termed a bowl barrow, than a 'cairn', being a mixture of earth with flints. <3>

All three barrows have been ploughed out. <6>

The barrow is visible as a sub-circular 25m in diameter earthwork on current Environment Agency lidar imagery, slightly flattened on the east side by a modern fenceline. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project. <8>
