Monument record MDO741 - Lynchet, Cerne Abbas

Medieval strip lynchets, in places overlying a prehistoric field system. Two narrow sinuous banked lynchets are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

A small area, centred at ST 67550145, of closely spaced medieval strip lynchets from 0.5m to 3.0m high, under grass. This system impinges upon an Iron Age/Romano-British system to the east (ST 60 SE 44). <1>

The site remains as described by authority 1; it is currently under pasture. <2>
