Full Description

<1> Cox, P W and Cotton, J, 1995, Archaeological Evaluation of an area of Proposed Ball Clay Extraction at Hawk Post, East Creech, Dorset. January 1995 (Unpublished document). SWX8495.

‘… extensive evidence for Later Iron Age and Romano-British activity. It is difficult to characterise the nature of the activity, but it is reasonable to assume that these deposits are associated with the shale working area recorded in the early part of the century. It is interesting to note that no shale waste was recovered from the evaluation and this area may therefore represent a domestic zone of the industrial site.’
