<1> Bateman C, 1994, A31 Sturt Lane to Red Post and A35 Stinsford to Cuckoo Lane, road improvements, Dorset. Archaeological Evaluation (Unpublished document). SDO12371.

‘2.2.7 A small assemblage of lithic material (13 pieces), containing a limited range of types was recovered from Trenches 4 and 5. The character of the assemblage consisted of knapping waste (primary and secondary flakes) with very few implements or retouched pieces. Identification and interpretation of the assemblage was hindered by the large amount of edge damage on the flint resulting from prolonged presence within an arable environment. Although no clearly diagnostic pieces were retrieved, the assemblage can be broadly dated to the Neolithic/Bronze Age periods.’
