Full Description
A 0.25 m (10 inch) thick layer of yellowish brown gravel or shingle was found overlying two features in the south end of the area investigated by H P Smith in 1926-33. It contained some early Roman pottery. This was interpreted as the remains of Roman road metalling of a road running ESE-WNW direction. <1>
