Full Description
Upper Palaeolithic artefacts from Portland, recovered during quarrying operations and excavation work for the south side of the Verne ditch. These include 19 Portland chert artefacts and 1 flint flake. The chert artefacts include three utilised flakes, a retouched blade, eight end-scrapers, an oval scraper, a sub-triangular point and four tanged points. The chert tools are steel-grey or nearly black grey. (1)
Flints sited to The Verne from OS 1:10000 1978. A small collection of Palaeolithic artefacts including scrapers and 4 tanged points found in the British Museum (Cat No 1914 12-11 Nos 7-26) come from the south side of the Verne ditch. (1)
