Summary

Remains of medieval cultivation in the form of strip lynchets. The features are visible as banked curvilinear earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

Two areas of medieval strip lynchets, centred at ST 67330473, both grass covered. Visible on air photographs. <1>

'B' centred ST 67400465. Almost ploughed out lynchets on north-west facing pasture slopes, 0.5m maximum height, at varying distances apart and 70.0m to 100.0m in length. <2>

The features are visible as banked curvilinear earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.Some of the lynchets are no longer visible on next Perspectives APGB imagery, being in an area of re-landscaping <5, 6, 7>
