Monument record MDO569 - Lynchet, Buckland Newton

Remains of medieval cultivation in the form of strip lynchets. The features are visible as banked linear and curvilinear earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Two areas of medieval strip lynchets, centred at ST 67330473, both grass covered. Visible on air photographs. <1>

'A' centred at ST 67170469. Three almost ploughed-out lynchets on north-facing slopes; not more than 0.2m in height, 20.0 to 30.0m apart and 150.0m in length. 100.0m further south, a fourth lynchet, 0.5m high, over 200.0m in length. <2>
