Monument record MDO566 - Settlement, Buckland Newton

Traces of irregular close-set terraces up to 130 yards long may mark the site of a settlement. Roman pottery and tiles have been found in the area. Banked linear features associated with this possible settlement are visible on aerial photographs and current Envirohnment Agency lidar imagery and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project. They might form part of a wider field system recorded under MDO44781 and were included in that record.
