Full Description
A complete undamaged medieval jug was dredged from the River Stour in 1955. It is a bag-shaped vessel with thumb prints around the base. It is of a sandy fabric with the body painted with oblique brush strokes of purplish slip and is unglazed. The rim has been repaired with a small hand-moulded piece of clay. A late thirteenth/early fourteenth century date is suggested for this vessel. (1)
