Summary

A bowl barrow situated in the corner of a modern field, and recorded as being around 50 feet in diameter and one foot high. The site of this plough-levelled Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a soilmark mound on aerial photographs and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

Full Description

A group of round barrows on Deverel Down in Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Whitechurch parishes. 'B' - SY 82329936 Bowl barrow, heavily ploughed, 50ft diameter and 1 ft high. Grinsell stated that after ploughing a "core of brown soil with circumferential circle of chalk rubble" was revealed. (RCHM Winterborne Whitechurch No 21; Grinsell's Milton Abbas No 6). <2-3>

SY 822993. Group of six round barrows on Deverell Down. Scheduled. (This group undoubtably includes some of the barrows at SY 821991 - See SY 89 NW 16). <4>

'B' - SY 82319936. Bowl barrow, in arable, ploughed almost flat. Diameter approximately 15.0 metres, height 0.3 metres. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>
