Please read our .

Summary

A layer recorded by Southern Archaeological Services in 1995 during monitoring of topsoil stripping, and interpreted as a remnant ploughsoil. Sherds of pottery within the layer dated mostly from the thirteenth century, but other finds within the layer suggested the soil had formed over a longer period of time.
