Monument record MDO51061 - Late Bronze Age pit, Longham Reservoir, Ferndown Town

Please read our .

Summary

A pit excavated by Southern Archaeological Services in 1995 during monitoring of topsoil stripping. The pit was dug for the deposition of a pot of Mid- to Late Bronze Age coarseware. Part of the pot was scraped off by machinery, but the rest remained in situ within the pit. The archaeologists on site thought this feature was likely to be ritual rather than domestic in function.
