Full Description
The remains of an extensive Iron Age or Romano British bank and ditched field system are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and earthworks on lidar imagery on Higher Piddle Down, Piddlehinton <1-4>. The system covers an area of over 39 hectares and is marked as 'British Settlement' on the OS 1st editiion map <5>. It is part of a much wider field system which extends to the east and south into Charminster parish (see MDO20448) and was digitally recorded during the Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
