Summary

Several ditched linear features on Charlton Higher Down, Charminster, are visible as soilmarks on aerial photographs. The features appear to overlie a Romano-British settlement (MDO768) and could potentially be later trackways, perhaps of post medieval date, although an earlier origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

Several ditched linear features on Charlton Higher Down, Charminster, are visible as soilmarks on aerial photographs [1]. The features appear to overlie a Romano-British settlement (MDO768) and could potentially be later trackways, perhaps of post medieval date, although a later prehistoric origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
