Summary

A curvilinear banked and ditched enclosure to the southwest of Forston Higher Farm, Charminster, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. The feature could potentially be later prehistoric in origin, perhaps of Iron Age to Roman date. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

A curvilinear banked and ditched enclosure to the southwest of Forston Higher Farm, Charminster, is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs [1]. The feature comprises a sub-oval banked enclosure with part of the south side not visible. There are short breaks in the north and southwest sides. A possible interior ditch is visible on the west and southwest sides. The feature is divided by a later field boundary. It could potentially be later prehistoric in origin, perhaps of Iron Age to Roman date. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
