Full Description
A curvilinear ditched enclosure associated with possible interior features and several pits is visible to the north of Forston Higher Farm, Charminster, as soilmarks on aerial photographs [1]. The features comprise a curvilinear ditched enclosure up to 74m by 58m, with a possible entrance on the northeast side, and an extending arm along the northwest side. Within the enclosure are everal further linear ditches and a number of possible small pits. These pits appeared to extend outside the northeast side of the enclosure. The features could potentially be later prehistoric in origin, perhaps of Iron Age to Roman date. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
