Monument record MDO48921 - Possible Bronze Age bowl barrow, Forston Higher Farm, Charminster

Please read our .

Summary

A poorly defined sub-circular feature in a field to the north of Forston Higher Farm, Charminster, is visible as a faint partial ring ditch cropmark on aerial photographs and as a sub-circular mound earthwork on current Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature could possibly be a Bronze Age bowl barrow but, being within a later prehistoric field system, it could alternatively be part of a ploughed out field boundary of potentially Iron Age/Roman origin. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
