Full Description
A rectilinear banked enclosure is visible as cropmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs and lidar imagery within Dole's Hill Plantation, Piddletrenthide <1-2>. The feature is 43m by 23m in size and lies within the remains of an Iron Age or Romano British field system described in MDO48887. It is possibly the 'castel' mentioned in the Saxon Charter. The site was digitally recorded during the Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project. <3>
