Full Description
A partial sub-circular ring ditch in a field to the west of Forston, Charminster, is visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs [1]. The feature is located 100m northwest of a possible later prehistoric enclosure MDO48882 and within part of a later prehistoric field system MDO789. It is also located 130m northeast of two possible Bronze Age barrowsd MDO48871 and MDO48873. It could possibly be the outer ditch associated with a Bronze Age round barrow or alternatively part of a hut circle of potentially Bronze Age/Iron Age date. The feature was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
