Summary

A sub-circular mound on Rake Bottom, Alton Pancras, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency lidar imagery. The feature is one of a loose row of four similar features located within a later prehistoric field system (MDO48377) and is considered to possibly be a Bronze Age bowl barrow. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.

Full Description

A sub-circular mound on Rake Bottom, Alton Pancras, is visible as an earthwork on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The feature comprises a 12.5m in diameter mound. It is the westernmost of a loose row of four similar features located within a later prehistoric field system (MDO48377) and is considered to possibly be a Bronze Age bowl barrow. It was digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
