Summary

Fragments of a banked field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery to the northeast of Basan Planation, Puddletown. In places the system is associated with parallel medieval or post medieval cultivation marks which may be contemporary with the laying out of the system or relate to a later reuse of an earlier prehistoric system of fields. The features cover an area of 50 hectares and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

Fragments of a banked field system are visible as low earthworks on lidar imagery to the northeast of Basan Planation, Puddletown <1>. In places the system is associated with parallel medieval or post medieval cultivation marks which may be contemporary with the laying out of the system or relate to a later reuse of an earlier prehistoric system of fields <2-3>. The features cover an area of 50 hectares and were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.
