Summary

Rectilinear ditched enclosures, field boundaries and associated pits are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs towards the southern end of Dewlish Park in the vicinity of the Roman villa described in MDO985. The features cover an area of over 8.5 hectares and are considered likely to be the remains of an Iron Age or Roman settlement and field system; they were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

Full Description

Rectilinear ditched enclosures, field boundaries and associated pits are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs towards the southern end of Dewlish Park in the vicinity of the Roman villa described in MDO985 <1-3>. The features cover an area of over 8.5 hectares and are considered likely to be the remains of an Iron Age or Roman settlement and field system; they were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.
