It is visible as earthworks on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project. It is one of a group of four hollows visible on the lidar in this area.

An Old Chalk Pit is marked on the OS 1st edition map at Tolpuddle to the northwest of West Barn (now Hill Barn) <1>.
