Summary

Part of a later prehistoric field system on Weam Common Hill, Cerne Abbas, is visible as soilmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features intermix with and continue to the northeast an Iron Age to Roman field system recorded under MDO43092, some of the features falling within the extent of Cerne medieval deer park. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.

Full Description

Part of a later prehistoric field system on Weam Common Hill, Cerne Abbas, is visible as soilmarks and earthworks on aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2,3]. The features intermix with and continue to the northeast an Iron Age to Roman field system recorded under MDO43092, some of the features falling within the extent of Cerne medieval deer park. They also continue onto fields north of Weam Common Hill. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
