Full Description
An area of ridged and ditched cultivation on Kiddle's Bottom to the west of Piddletrenthide is visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features are located within a former medieval strip field that probably formed part of the open field of Piddletrenthide and are considered to possibly be remnant cultivation marks of possibly medieval date. The features run perpendicular to, and possibly underlie (although this is not entirely clear from the lidar imagery), a series of medieval strip lynchets recorded under MDO1925. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
