Summary

An area of banked linear features on the west side of Alton Pancras are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features form a series of small sub-rectilinear closes and are considered to possibly be part of an area of shrunken medieval settlement. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.

An area of banked linear features on the west side of Alton Pancras are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2, 3]. The features form a series of small sub-rectilinear closes and are considered to possibly be part of an area of shrunken medieval settlement. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
