Full Description
Banked curvilinear features in fields to the southwest of Up Cerne are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs [1, 2]. The features are considered to be part of a medieval strip field - several of the lynchets appear to continue those on Seldon Hill to the southwest, recorded under MDO2814. They may be part of a medieval strip field associated with the medieval manor and settlement at Up Cerne. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
Only a few of the features remain visible on current Environment Agency lidar imagery [3], suggesting substantial reduction by plough action.
