Full Description

Banked rectilinear features in fields to the south of Up Cerne are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs [1]. The features sub divide and align with the current field pattern, one of the features appears to possibly underlie an extant curvilinear field boundary of probable medieval derivation. The features are considered likely to be field boundaries ranging between medieval and post medieval in date, although an earlier origin for some is possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.

The features are no longer visible on current Environment Agency lidar imagery.
