Full Description
Banked linear features at Minterne Parva, Minterne Magna, are visible as earthworks on Environment Agency lidar imagery [1]. The features comprise a series of closely parallel and perpendicular linear banks on the south side of Minterne Parva, forming possible medieval crofts and tofts. To the north of Minterne Parva are several linear banks, some also closely parallel, others more irregularly laid out, but possibly part of a medieval strip field system. The features are considered to possibly be part of a deserted medieval settlement and strip field boundaries within an area of medieval open field. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
