Full Description
Banked rectilinear features in a field to the east of Up Cerne are visible as earthworks on 1945 aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The features are within part of probable former medieval open field around Up Cerne but run counter to the direction of adjacent medieval lynchets to the south. One of the linear features also extends below a field boundary extant in 1945. The features are considered to possibly be field boundaries of later prehistoric date but a medieval origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
