Monument record MDO48155 - Probable post medieval field boundaries, Minterne Magna

Linear banked features to the west of Minterne Magna are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery. The features are located on an area of down bordering current fields, with one of the features shown as a broken row of trees on the OS 1st Edition map. They and are considered to be field boundaries of probable post medieval date and were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.

Linear banked features to the west of Minterne Magna are visible as earthworks on 1940s aerial photographs and Environment Agency lidar imagery [1, 2]. The features sub-divide and align with present fields and are considered most likely to be field boundaries of medieval to post medieval date, although being within an area of later prehistoric field systems, an older origin is also possible. They were digitally plotted during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM project.
