Summary

There is reputed to have been a Benedictine cell in the vicinity of the house called Monk's Mulberry. It is known from documentary evidence that an alien priory, dependent upon the Benedictine house of Saint Pierre at Preaux, was founded at Spetisbury before 1100. The present house on the site incorporates a small 18th-century building thought to have been a gazebo, but it does not appear to contain any older structures or materials.
