Summary

Cropmarks of part of an elongated ditched possibly later prehistoric or Roman enclosure and pits visible on aerial photographs taken in April 2015 as part of the Historic England Reconnaissance Recording Programme. It can be seen amongst the remains of a plough-levelled later prehistoric field system. The features were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cern and Piddle AIM Project.

Full Description

Cropmarks of part of an elongated ditched possibly later prehistoric or Roman enclosure and pits visible on aerial photographs taken in April 2015 as part of the Historic England Reconnaissance Recording Programme. The enclosure appears as an elongated ditch-defined feature at SY 8232 9730 aligned W-E and closed at the eastern end. This may be part of a settlement. It can be seen amongst the remains of a plough-levelled later prehistoric field system. <1>

The enclosure is 24m by 34m across and appears open at its western side. The features were digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cern and Piddle AIM Project.
