Summary

Cropmarks of two concentric circles visible on aerial photographs taken by John Boyden in 1973. Interpreted as a double ring ditch of probable Bronze Age date. The site was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project. In 2019 an evaluation by Cotswold Archaeology revealed the double ring ditch with a single central pit from which fragments of Bronze Age pottery were recovered. A Beaker cremation burial was found within the southern ditch.

'B' - SY 80449749. Crop-mark of double ring-ditch. <1>

Nothing visible on the ground at these two references. The cropmarks are not visible on OS air photographs. <2>

The possible site of a plough-levelled Bronze Age round barrow is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project. The site comprises an inner complete ring ditch 14.5m across, with an incomplete outer ditch 21m across. <4>.
