Summary

The site of a plough-levelled Bronze Age round barrow is visible as a low earthwork mound on lidar imagery and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.

Full Description

A group of round barrows on Deverel Down in Milborne St Andrew and Winterborne Whitechurch parishes. 'C' - SY 82209936. Bowl barrow, 36ft diameter and 1 1/2ft high has its centre dug and is much ploughed. There are traces of a ditch. (RCHM Milborne St Andrew No 36 Grinsell's Milborne No 7).<2-3>

SY 822993. Group of six round barrows on Deverell Down. Scheduled. (This group undoubtably includes some of the barrows at SY 821991 - See SY 89 NW 16). <4>

'C' - SY 82199936. Bowl barrow, ploughed down. Diameter 11.0 metres; height 0.6 metres. Resurveyed at 1:2500 on M.S.D. <5>

The site is visible as a low earthwork mound on lidar imagery <7> and was digitally recorded during the Dorset Upper Cerne and Piddle AIM Project.
