Monument record MDO41992 - Romano-British field system, East Chickerell

Please read our .

Summary

A number of ditches recorded in 2016 during archaeological evaluation of a site proposed for development. These ditches were interpreted as being components of a field system or enclosures associated with a nearby settlement. The filling of the ditches contained pottery and other material of Roman date, and suggested a domestic and agricultural nature for the settlement, probably a small farmstead.
