Summary

A circular banked feature, 19m across, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 on the west side of Conegar Hill. A small hollow has been dug into its eastern side. The feature may be the site of a Bronze Age round barrow although the place name 'conegar' may relate to the keeping of rabbits and the feature may alternatively be associated with a medieval or post medieval rabbit warren. Full Description

A circular mound, ca. 60 feet in diameter on VAP, and may be a ploughed down barrow. Situated on Conegar Hill, SY 378 955. <1>

A circular banked feature, 19m across, is visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948 on the west side of Conegar Hill <2>. A small hollow has been dug into its eastern side. The feature may be the site of a Bronze Age round barrow although the place name 'conegar' may relate to the keeping of rabbits and the feature may alternatively be associated with a medieval or post medieval rabbit warren. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP. It has since been levelled and is no longer visible on recent Google Earth imagery <3>. The site is also close to the recorded site of a Second World War Auxillary Operations Base (Defence of Britain Project) and the erathworks my relate in some way to that.
