An extensive series of post medieval and early 20th century extractive pits and quarries are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs on High Bullen, the southern end of Hardown Hill (1-2). A Gravel Pit is marked at SY 4046 94079 on the OS 1st edition map. The quarries were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP.
