Monument record MDO37487 - Medieval field system and cultivation marks, Middle Pymore Farm, Allington

Fragments of a field system of medieval origin are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs between Middle Pymore Farm and the Gardeners Arms, Allington. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP project.

SY 461 947. A group of former field boundaries are visible on aerial photographs, to the North and North-East of New Close Farm. <1>

Fragments of a field system of medieval origin are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs between Middle Pymore Farm and the Gardeners Arms, Allington. The site includes wide medieval lynchets and narrower ditched boundaries which may be of later date. One area of parallel cultivation ridges was also identified. The features are visible as earthworks on aerial photographs taken in 1948, some lynchets are still visible on recent lidar imagery. The site was digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP project. <2-3>
