Summary

A ring ditch visible as a cropmark on aerial photographs. This monument was also recorded as a penannular geophysical anomaly during the geophysical survey of the route of the Wessex Water Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Transfer Scheme. This ring ditch may be the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. The ring ditch is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 2015 and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project. The record for this monument has been created with support from Wessex Water.

Full Description

A ring ditch with an estimated diameter of 11 metres, visible as a circular, annular cropmark on aerial photographs dated 2005. This may be the remains of a Bronze Age round barrow. No evidence for surviving mound material or associated features could be discerned. [1]

This monument was recorded as a penannular positive geophysical anomaly (256) during the geophysical survey of the route of the Corfe Mullen to Salisbury Transfer Scheme by Stratascan in 2012. It had a diameter of about 11.5m and had a narrow break in its circuit in the south east quadrant. [2]

The record for this monument has been created with support from Wessex Water.

The ring ditch is visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs taken in 2015 and was digitally plotted during the Dorset Middle Stour Catchment AI&M Project (4).

One of two ring ditches visible on aerial photograph MRN ST9303/2 lying within the field system 112,204. It is probably the site of a Bronze Age burial mound levelled by agriculture. Estimated diameter 15m.
