Monument record MDO37178 - Round barrow, Puddletown

Please read our .

Summary

A circular soil mark around 20 metres in diameter visible on aerial photographs dated 2002 and composed of a light area in the centre surrounded by a ring of darker soil. This is interpreted as the remains of a round barrow. The central, chalky area suggests that the mound of the barrow survives, though reduced by ploughing. The site of this barrow is visible as a cropmark ring ditch on aerial photographs with traces of an internal mound on lidar imagery. It was digitally recorded during the Upper Cerne and Piddle Valleys AIM project.
