<1> Hearne, C M, 1991, Sturminster Marshall to Blandford St Mary Main. Archaeological Watching Brief (Unpublished document). SDO205.
‘Plot 32 – Small Pit 73 (*): 560mm diameter, 370mm deep with steep even sides and rounded base. The pit was recorded in the west-facing section of pipe trench. Lower fill of dark brown sandy silt (72) containing charcoal and Bronze Age pottery which appeared to line the base of the pit. Upper fill of light brown silty clay (71).’

‘OBSERVATIONS ON A PIPELINE: STURMINSTER MARSHALL TO BLANDFORD ST MARY … One small pit (ST 8970 0395) produced sherds of a straight-sided Middle Bronze Age urn, containing a cremation, of a type common within the Avon/Stour valley area (Ellison 1975, type 6).’
