Full Description
Lime kiln of pointed stone arch type (Stanier Type C), marked on the 1890 Ordnance Survey 6-inch map as 'Old Limekiln'. This type is common in West Dorset and may be a fairly early type (1). It lies on the Forest Marble.
When visited by Peter Stanier in 1992, it survived mostly complete, but in poor condition.
Structures associated with the kiln are visible on aerial photographs taken in 1948 and were digitally plotted during the Marshwood Vale NMP project (2).
