Full Description
A bowl barrow situated on a low ridge on Morden Heath. The barrow has a mound composed of earth and chalk, with maximum dimensions of 12 metres in diameter and about 0.5 metres in height. The mound is surrounded by a quarry ditch which has become infilled over the years, but will survive as a buried feature 1.5 metres wide. <1>
A circular mound, approximately 7.3m in diameter, is visible as a low earthwork on aerial photographs of Morden Heath, Wareham St Martin <2>. There is a National Monuments Record for a Scheduled bowl barrow at this location (MON ID 1314522), and it is considered possible this could be the remains of the Bronze Age round barrow described. This feature was digitally plotted during the Wild Purbeck Mapping Project.
