Full Description
Limited excavation within the interior of No. 8 Gold Hill undertaken by the Shaftesbury and District Archaeological Group in 1984 revealed traces of medieval activity beneath an early post-medieval building. The evidence comprised a series thin occupation layers comprising ash, charcoal, mortar, Greensand and charcoal. A single rim sherd of medieval pottery was recovered. The precise form of the medieval activity is difficult to determine from the limited amount of evidence recovered. (1)
