Listed Building record MDO28478 - Lower Holt Farm, Melbury Osmond

A farmhouse built in the 17th century and extended around the middle of the 18th century. It has a T-shaped plan, with the western end being the earlier part of the house. The building has walls of stone rubble with ashlar quoins, and roof covered partly in thatch and partly with modern materials.

‘The following monuments, unless otherwise described, are of the 17th century and of two storeys; the walls are of rubble and the roofs are thatched or covered with modern materials. Some of the buildings have exposed ceiling-beams and original fireplaces. . . . (21) Lower Holt Farm, 1,150 yards N.N.W. of the church, is T-shape in plan; the W. wing was built in the 17th century and the cross wing in the middle of the 18th century. There are ashlar quoins and the two-light windows have moulded wood frames.’
